Located 35km west of Toowoomba, the JBS Beef City Plant is part of the Beef City integrated feedlot, processing and farming facility. The cattle are walked from the feedlot to the plant, minimising stress and transportation costs, while simultaneously improving eating quality – one of only two in southern hemisphere. Specialising in grain-fed beef production, the plant employs approximately 850 employees with a current processing capacity of 945 cattle per day and has a strong reputation for producing high quality grain fed beef for key domestic and international customers.
About the Role
JBS Beef City is currently seeking a WHS & Rehab Coordinator to join the Afternoon Shift team. Reporting to the HR Manager, this role is responsible for employee relations and site processes relating to Workplace Health & Safety, Rehabilitation, and Return to Work. The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering a strong safety culture that promotes the health, wellbeing, and safety of all team members.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in conducting and following through on investigations for injuries, near misses or hazards
- Participating in WHS committee meetings
- Ensuring compliance with the JBS Rehabilitation and Health & Safety Management System
- Reviewing any updates to Standards, Codes of Practice, WHS Act and WHS Regulations to ensure the site is compliant
- Participating in internal and external audits, ensuring the site maintains compliance and implements any changes
- Promoting safety culture and awareness
- Providing workplace rehabilitation within the guidelines of the Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation Act
- Leading injury management and rehabilitation on the PM shift
- Consulting and liaising with medical providers, employees and other stakeholders in regards to injuries
- Communicating with the Workers Compensation Self Insurance department
About You
- Formal qualifications in WH&S and Return to Work preferred
- Previous injury management experience and working knowledge of workers compensation and rehab legislation preferred
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team environment
- Good computer literacy and the ability to learn new systems efficiently
- Ability to adapt to different environments and situations
- Ability to work with a wide range of employees and stakeholders
- Knowledge of manufacturing hazards ideally within a food manufacturing environment
- Experience in risk assessment, incident investigation and injuries
- Strong communication skills with an emphasis on excellent listening and interaction skills
- Good conflict resolution skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
