About the Role

JBS Beef City has an opportunity for an experienced Industrial Engineer to join the team in this newly created position. As our Industrial Engineer, you will focus on how to get work completed in the most efficient way, balancing many factors including time, number of workers needed, throughput and efficiency, available technology, actions required, and achieving a quality product with minimal rework, whilst ensuring workers' safety.

 

The successful candidate will find ways to eliminate wastefulness in production processes to achieve targets set in production/processing roles, lead continuous improvement initiatives and devise ways to be more efficient.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Analysing the current operating plan to determine opportunities for process improvement, workflow and cost reductions
  • Developing solutions to operational issues to reach desired cost reduction and quality improvements
  • Developing, installing and maintaining cost effective methods of manufacturing
  • Collaborating with Business Analysts
  • Developing work measurements to optimize operations
  • Conducting cost-to-produce analysis for new products and ROI for new projects
  • Participating in initial phases of new production lines to assist in design for cost effective manufacturing
  • Assisting with project management
  • Working with operations and engineering teams to identify production bottlenecks
  • Leading continuous improvements and operational excellence teams in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Reducing waste, rework and cycle times
  • Collaborating with the engineering team to determine overall equipment effectiveness and associated improvement strategies
  • Provide training to management for implementation of new procedures, processes, services and technology
  • Managing labour cost strategies across the Dinmore site
  • Assisting in financial planning and cost analysis
  • Keeping abreast of industry technology

 

About You

  • Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent
  • Demonstrated industrial engineering experience (ideally 5+ years) or equivalent industry experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Experience with Process Improvement Programs including PDCA, Six Sigma, Lean, RCA, SMED, Kaizen
  • Ability to respond calmly in difficult situations whilst maintaining a strong customer service focus
  • Exceptional ability to prioritise and multi-task
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment
  • Takes other's perspective's into consideration
  • Makes self fully available as required

Located 35km west of Toowoomba, the JBS Beef City Plant is part of the Beef City integrated feedlot, processing and farming facility. The cattle are walked from the feedlot to the plant, minimising stress and transportation costs, while simultaneously improving eating quality – one of only two in southern hemisphere. Specialising in grain-fed beef production, the plant employs approximately 950 employees with a current processing capacity of 1000 cattle per day and has a strong reputation for producing high quality grain fed beef for key domestic and international customers.
