Feedyard Maintenance Hand

About the Role

Our Beef City Feedlot team is currently recruiting a multiskilled Feedyard Maintenance Hand to join the Maintenance team in a full-time capacity. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role would best suit someone who has previous experience working on a station or feedlot, as it will require you to work as part of a small team carrying out a variety of maintenance related tasks including welding, water supply and livestock containment.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out general maintenance tasks and fault finding
• Erecting steel yard fencing including setting fence posts in concrete, welding and running fencing cables
• Repairing and maintaining steel yard fencing
• Repairing and maintaining plumbing and pumping systems
• Carrying out basic concrete works and repairs
• Liaising and working with contractors
• Complying with company policies and procedures
• Working safely to prevent injuries and lost time
• Additional tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or Feedlot Manager

About You

• Proven experience working in a similar maintenance role (ideally 2+ years)
• Proven experience in yard building
• Proven experience in plumbing and pump repairs
• Proven experience in laying concrete
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
• Sound communication and interpersonal skills
• Sound understanding and knowledge of safe work practices
• Previous plant and machinery operation experience advantageous but not essential
• A rural background and understanding of livestock desirable
