Operations Manager

Manages the movement of livestock, hides, and finished products. JBS Carriers, the transportation arm of JBS Australia, supports JBS operations through an efficient logistical structure that optimises everything from the transportation of cattle to finished products and export containers. The fleet operates under NHVAS accreditation and includes 29 prime movers and 75 trailers that travel a combined seven million kilometres per year.

 

Reporting to the Yambinya Station Manager, the Operations Manager will take be responsible for the daily management of the Yambinya Feedlot Operations, including Feeders, Pen Riders & Compliance (Weighbridge, HR, Safety & Quality) to ensure our operating procedures across the Farm, Feed, Cattle, Pens and Transport are efficient and effective and consistent with JBS Safety, Quality, People & process standards & expectations

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee land and crop preparation, including cultivation, spraying, and irrigation operations.
  • Ensure timely and efficient use of broadacre and row crop implements, tractors, and other machinery.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on all farming equipment.
  • Provide direction and lead the Livestock and Feedlot Operations teams in terms of Safety, Quality, Efficiency and Engagement  
  • Supervise daily livestock handling, including pen riding, stock movements, and accurate record-keeping.
  • Manage water trough and pen cleaning, as well as general pen maintenance.
  • Assist with livestock induction, dispatch, and other stock movement processes.
  • Supervise and coordinate farm staff and contractors to ensure efficient workflow and task completion.
  • Provide training and support to team members to uphold safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Ensure all operations comply with JBS Australia policies, including HR, OHS, QA, Animal Welfare, and Environmental standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety by identifying and addressing hazards, reporting incidents, and encouraging safe work practices.
  • Understand and uphold the company’s Code of Conduct and all relevant policies and procedures.
