Located 12km south of Townsville, a major gateway to Queensland’s world-renowned Great Barrier Reef, the JBS Townsville Plant is JBS Australia’s most northern operation. Cattle are sourced from a wide supply area, including the Northern Territory, north and north-western Queensland and packed into the AMH brand, the most trusted name in beef. The plant employs approximately 500 team members with a processing capacity of 900 head of cattle per day, operating 5 days per week.
About the Role
Due to the continuing growth of the JBS Townsville Plant, we are currently recruiting a Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) and Return to Work (RTW) Coordinator to join the team in a full-time capacity. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the WHS & RTW Coordinator works closely with our management team and plays a vital role in the successful operation of our processing plant.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Promoting and influencing a positive safety culture
- Liaising with stakeholders regarding WHS and IMC, maintaining a strong focus on continuous improvement and best practice
- Ensuring safe systems of work are followed in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures
- Utilising the WHS Safety Management System Matrix to plan and review compliance
- Facilitating consultation activities for the site including toolbox talks, safety observations, consultative committee meetings
- Conducting incident investigations and safety reports
- Conducting WHS audits, inspections identifying risks and hazards
- Carrying out associated administrative tasks, statistics and reporting
- Providing workplace rehabilitation assistance to employees in accordance with legislative and Company policies
- Overseeing the onsite injury management early intervention clinic
- Overseeing effective operation of the site first aid office
- Consulting with the Workers Compensation department regarding injury management processes and claims progression
About You
- Must have previous WHS and IMC experience
- Must have Cert IV Work Health and Safety or higher
- Must have Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordination (or equivalent) vocational competencies
- Must have completed Fire Safety Advisor training or willing to obtain
- Working knowledge of WHS Act 2011, regulations, Code of Practice and Australian Standards
- Sound working knowledge of QLD Workplace Rehabilitation Legislation
- Exposure to a large self-insurance organisation advantageous
- Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Strong organisational, time management and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Must have current Australian work rights
