Located 12km south of Townsville, a major gateway to Queensland’s world-renowned Great Barrier Reef, the JBS Townsville Plant is JBS Australia’s most northern operation. Cattle are sourced from a wide supply area, including the Northern Territory, north and north-western Queensland and packed into the AMH brand, the most trusted name in beef. The plant employs approximately 430 team members with a processing capacity of 900 head of cattle per day, operating 4 days per week.
About the Role
Due to the continuing growth of the JBS Townsville Plant, we are currently recruiting an experienced Hygiene Supervisor to join the team in a newly created position. Reporting to the Assistant Plant Manager, the Hygiene Supervisor will be supporting the afternoon shift team (4pm to 12am), Monday to Friday.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading, engaging, motivating and supporting your team, including training, performance, conflict resolution and fostering a positive work environment
- Ensuring compliance with company and legal standards (food and personal safety, quality, hygiene, and environment)
- Customer focused delivery of hygiene to Manufacturing and Technical standards
- Leading your team of hygiene operatives ensuring proper use of equipment and chemicals
- Making an active and positive contribution to the site hygiene team
- Ensuring continuous improvement and engagement
- Supporting robust investigations in respect of microbiological improvement
- Employing effective root cause analysis to drive actions, leading to improved overall results
- Overseeing pre-operational tasks and ensuring compliance with hygiene standards, coordinating with QA team for smooth handovers
- Supervising daily stock checks, chemical management and cleanliness of utensils
- Maintaining safety documentation and ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Driving hygiene compliance
About You
- Previous experience in a similar food manufacturing environment (ideally 2 years)
- Knowledge of effective food factory sanitation methods essential
- Ability to document cleaning methods
- Ability to train, coach and guide the hygiene operators in best sanitation practices
- Strong people management and leadership skills
- Experience in low and high-risk food production highly regarded
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proactive, flexible and adaptable
