The plant employs approximately 430 team members with a processing capacity of 900 head of cattle per day, operating 4 days per week.

About the Role

As an integral member of the leadership team, we are currently recruiting an experienced and pragmatic HR Manager to lead our Townsville Plant HR team. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the successful candidate will be committed to providing a professional service to both our internal and external stakeholders whilst leading a team of six (6) dedicated HR team members.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing the HR function/team across HR Operations, Recruitment, Return to Work & First Aid, Training and Payroll to ensure efficient and effective HR practices are implemented and aligned to, and support business objectives
  • Maintaining adequate staffing/manning levels for the business
  • Ensuring compliance with all employment legislation, policies and procedures
  • Reviewing and implementing activities to reduce turnover and improve retention
  • Developing effective relationships with all relevant internal, external stakeholders and employees
  • Ensuring HR data integrity through accurate updating and maintenance of all HR records
  • Reviewing and managing trends in attendance and absenteeism
  • Developing and implementing employee and community engagement initiatives

 

About You

  • Previous experience in a similar HR leadership role
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing/processing environment highly regarded
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or related discipline  
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of the Fair Work Act and Modern Awards
  • Experience managing recruitment and selection
  • Strong administration and processing skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent investigation and report writing skills
  • Excellent time management skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
  • Highly organised self-starter and committed to seeing projects through to the end
  • Management System experience (Success Factors) highly regarded
