Located 12km south of Townsville, a major gateway to Queensland’s world-renowned Great Barrier Reef, the JBS Townsville processing facility is JBS Australia’s most northern operation. Cattle are sourced from a wide supply area, including the Northern Territory, north and north-western Queensland and packed into the AMH brand, the most trusted name in beef. The facility employs approximately 430 employees and processes approximately 900 head per day, operating 4 days/week.

 

About the Role

The Townsville Plant is a fast-moving, high-volume food manufacturing facility where short and long-term plant availability, reliability and capability is a priority. Following safe work practices and procedures, the Boiler Attendant is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring and basic maintenance of two steam generating boilers, steam distribution system and hot water systems and equipment.

 

Working Hours: Night Shift | 4-day week | Tuesday - Friday | 0000hrs - 0930hrs

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Operation of the plant’s coal and oil-fired boilers
  • Operation, monitoring, testing of boiler, condenser water and water treatment systems
  • Completion of allocated maintenance tasks
  • Completion of plant improvement initiatives
  • Keeping management informed of operation issues
  • Start-up, operation and shutdown of the coal and oil boilers as required
  • Monitoring and the testing of boiler safety systems
  • Testing of boiler water for conductivity and regulate chemical dosing
  • Other responsibilities as directed

 

About You

  • Queensland License High Risk Work Boiler Standard - Essential
  • Proven experience to undertake minor maintenance work on relevant plant/machinery
  • Ability to monitor equipment and adjust where necessary
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of steam systems within a manufacturing environment
