Located 35km west of Toowoomba, the JBS Beef City Plant is part of the Beef City integrated feedlot, processing and farming facility. The cattle are walked from the feedlot to the plant, minimising stress and transportation costs, while simultaneously improving eating quality – one of only two in southern hemisphere. Specialising in grain-fed beef production, the plant employs approximately 850 employees with a current processing capacity of 999 cattle per day and has a strong reputation for producing high quality grain fed beef for key domestic and international customers.
About the Role
JBS Beef City is currently seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to join the Maintenance team in a full-time capacity. Reporting to the Plant Engineer, the Reliability Engineer will oversee a variety of engineering and maintenance activities within a manufacturing environment. This hands-on role involves close collaboration with plant operations and maintenance teams to ensure the reliability and repair of electrical and mechanical assets. The position aims to achieve safety, production, cost, compliance, planning, reporting, and plant reliability improvement goals through effective leadership of a maintenance team.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing direction and guidance to maintenance supervisors, planning and tradespeople
- Ensuring the availability and reliability of electrical and mechanical assets
- Ensuring the maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical assets
- Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities in processes, systems, and equipment
- Managing nominated capital projects
About You
- Degree or diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred, but relevant experience also considered
- Previous experience in a similar role within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment
- Proven leadership and staff management skills
- Ability to motivate teams towards continuous improvement
- Certification in Maintenance and Reliability (CMRP) or equivalent highly desirable
- Proven experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Strong understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance technologies and practices
- Experience with root cause analysis and reliability-centred maintenance
- Thorough understanding of maintenance work management practices
- Strong planning, organizing, and project management abilities
- Knowledge of work planning and scheduling procedures
- Experience with supervising sub-contractors
- Excellent computer skills
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective problem-solving abilities
- Sound knowledge of WH&S and environmental regulations
