Ideally located in the prime grain and cattle producing region of the Darling Downs, 35km west of Toowoomba, the 26,500 head capacity feedlot has a strong reputation for producing high quality grain fed beef for key domestic and international customers, and employs approximately 50 team members.

About the Role

JBS Australia’s Beef City Feedlot are seeking a reliable Livestock Induction Hand to join our Livestock team on a full-time basis. We are looking for passionate cattle handlers who are skilled in, or wish to further develop their cattle handling and cattle treatment skills.

 

Reporting to the Induction Foreperson, you will be responsible for inducting cattle into the feedlot and administering animal health products. You will be able to follow procedures and work effectively as part of a team. Skilled Induction Hands are vital to ensuring successful livestock operations.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Daily livestock handling including moving cattle from receival pens through the induction process and into home pens
  • Drafting cattle
  • Following documentation and counting cattle to ensure the correct number of cattle are being inducted
  • Maintaining accurate records of cattle movements
  • Ensuring water troughs are cleaned twice a week and cattle have access to water at all times
  • Following procedures to ensure meet QA compliance
  • Ensuring compliance with OH&S, Animal Welfare and Environmental regulations

 

About You

  • Motivated and have a desire to ensure cattle health is a priority
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Methodical and efficient in regards to cattle movements and have good organisational skills
  • Must display a willingness and ability to learn new skills
  • Committed to animal welfare
  • Ability to work a 10 hour day, 4 days a week
  • Ability to follow instruction
  • Ability to work additional hours if required based on workload
