About Us

The JBS Beef City Feedlot is part of the integrated Beef City facility consisting of farming, feedlot and processing operations. The cattle are walked from the feedlot to the plant, minimising stress and transportation costs, while simultaneously improving eating quality.

Ideally located in the prime grain and cattle producing region of the Darling Downs, 35km west of Toowoomba, the 26,500 head capacity feedlot has a strong reputation for producing high quality grain fed beef for key domestic and international customers, and employs approximately 50 team members.

JBS also has its livestock transport operations based at Beef City Feedlot to facilitate cattle movements between all the feedlot and processing sites.

About the Role

The JBS Beef City Feedlot is currently recruiting a reliable Leading Hand to join the Feed Team in a full-time capacity. Reporting to the Mill Supervisor, your key responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the daily supervision, training and coordination of employees in the Feed Team
• Daily commodity intake functions
• Feed commodity ration batching and feed delivery
• Additional roustabout duties
• Maintaining compliance with JBS Australia policies, including but not limited to: WHS, HR, AQ, Animal Welfare & Environmental Legislation
• Following instructions from the Mill Supervisor and Forepersons for feeding activities
• Other duties as required to support other sections of Mill and Feed team

About You

• Machinery and plant operation experience
• Commodity handling experience
• Basic computer skills
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
• Experience or assistance with leading and motivating a team of employees
• High level of initiative
• Strong attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to work well independently and within a team environment
• Ability to work an allocated roster (8 days on / 6days off; 10 hour shifts)
