The JBS Beef City Feedlot is part of the integrated Beef City facility consisting of farming, feedlot and processing operations. The cattle are walked from the feedlot to the plant, minimising stress, carbon emissions and transportation costs while simultaneously improving eating quality. Ideally located in the prime grain and cattle producing region of the Darling Downs, 35km west of Toowoomba, the 26,500 head capacity feedlot has a strong reputation for producing high quality grain fed beef for key domestic and international customers, and employs approximately 50 team members.

About the Role

The JBS Beef City Feedlot is currently recruiting a Feed Mill Operator to assist with the smooth and efficient production of grain processing. Reporting to the Mill Supervisor/Foreperson, the Feed Mill Operator role is pivotal to the success of the feeding program and insurance of consistent weight gains.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking pre-start inspections of all machinery prior to operation
  • Ensuring the production of grain processing to meet requirements
  • Monitoring processes to ensure targets are met
  • Inventory management
  • Troubleshooting and rectifying issues to help increase efficiencies to ensure consistency of product
  • Conducting handovers with fellow Mill Operators
  • Water quality management
  • Communicating with fellow operators
  • Promoting and maintaining a safe work environment to prevent injuries and lost time
  • Additional tasks as directed by management

 

About You

  • Current Intermediate Boiler Operators Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Experience with grain receival, handling, processing and steam flaking milling preferred
  • Mechanically/process minded with the ability to be methodical and identify irregularities
  • Ability to work shift work including weekends
  • Clear and concise communication skills
  • Basic computer skills and methodical record keeping shills required
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with limited supervision as part of a small team
  • Must have a good work ethic and be able to take and follow instruction
  • Fever vaccinated or be willing to receive a Q Fever vaccination
