Located 35km west of Toowoomba, the JBS Beef City Plant is part of the Beef City integrated feedlot, processing and farming facility. The cattle are walked from the feedlot to the plant, minimising stress and transportation costs, while simultaneously improving eating quality – one of only two in southern hemisphere. Specialising in grain-fed beef production, the plant employs approximately 950 employees with a current processing capacity of 1000 cattle per day and has a strong reputation for producing high quality grain fed beef for key domestic and international customers.
About the Role
JBS Beef City is currently recruiting an experienced Fabrication Foreperson (Boning Room) to join our operations leadership team in a full-time capacity. Reporting to the Fabrication Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing people, processes, safety, quality and compliance within the boning room to ensure a high quality, efficient product.
Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Leading and engaging a large diverse team of Fabrication Room team members, ensuring we have a productive, engaged and safe team
- Maintaining all necessary relationships to ensure maximum production and continued production of a high-quality product
- Ensuring all regulatory requirements are met regarding fresh beef production
- Ensuring teams are adequately manned to meet the daily production requirements
- Ensuring all team members meet the competency requirements to carry out the tasks allotted to them
- Ensuring all employees are supervised and managed in a manner in line with company values and the employee handbook including code of conduct
- Monitoring departmental tasks regarding knowledge of current cutting lines, packaging, having ensured that the scales are tested physically daily
- Ensuring pre-operational hygiene inspection are corrected prior to start
- Ensuring a safe and healthy workplace is maintained and safe work practices are developed, implemented and maintained
- Strong safety culture in line with JBS WH&S training programs, ensuring all team members are familiar with Company’s rules
- Completing all required departmental management production report in a timely manner
About You
- Previous experience in the meat industry essential
- Previous experience in a similar leadership position highly regarded
- Excellent communication, delegation and interpersonal skills
- Demonstratable problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety, and Food Safety and Quality Assurance requirements
- Demonstrated computer literacy skills, specifically within Excel, Word and Outlook
- Ability to respond calmly in difficult situations whilst maintaining a strong customer service focus
- Exceptional ability to prioritise and multi-task
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment
