About the Role
We have a rare opportunity for a Quality Coordinator – Laboratory to join our team in Chullora, Sydney. This role is responsible for ensuring that product quality is upheld in line with product specifications and legal standards. The Quality Coordinator is tasked with supervising laboratory operations, ensuring quality control and also leads and maintains equipment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Adhere to and implement Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, and process parameters to guarantee safe and high-quality products
- Conduct internal microbiological and/or chemical testing activities along with external testing programs.
- Modernise testing schedules (e.g., Pre-Op and operational swabs for Micro and allergens, internal product testing, external NATA Lab testing, first production, surveillance, and end-of-life assessments, in addition to other projects, verification, and validation activities).
- Document findings of non-conformances and offer recommendations for preventive measures and corrective actions.
- Conduct internal and GMP audits to ensure quality and food safety management systems are effective
- Ensuring accurate and reliable data collection, analysis, and reporting of test results.
- Supervising and leading laboratory personnel, including training and development.
- Supervising, training, and mentoring laboratory staff, including technicians and analysts to maintain high standards for product safety and quality.
- Managing the daily operations of the laboratory, including scheduling, resource allocation, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
- Overseeing the maintenance, calibration, and proper use of laboratory equipment, as well as managing inventory of supplies and reagents
- Participate in Lab equipment calibration and proficiency testing
About you:
- Degree in Food Science, Food Technology or any other relevant science degree.
- Previous experience in Food laboratories preferred
- Previous experience in the FMCG Industry
- Well versed in HACCP and its application
- Knowledge of Commonwealth, State Legislation, Food Standard Code
- Demonstrated computer literacy in excel, word and outlook
- Previous experience of testing products (both microbiological and Chemical) for meat products
- Strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
