About the Role

An exciting opportunity for a proactive WHS Officer to join our existing WHS team and be a part of delivering changes and championing safe working practices. We at Andrews Meat Industries are one of Australia’s longest serving and most respected suppliers for protein based solutions. Led by the Andrews Family since 1960 and a partial subsidiary of JBS, we have both the feeling of a family owned business with the advantages of a large corporation.

 

Your role will be reporting to our newly appointed WHS Supervisor that will be supporting you while you learn the ropes, and you will also be able to buddy alongside our existing WHS Officer. As part of a larger HR team you will be well supported and join a business that is eager to take safety to the next level.

 

The role’s responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Conduct regular WHS inspections and daily WHS walk throughs
  • Conduct regular toolbox talks
  • Engage with staff on WHS related issues and promote positive behaviours
  • Ensure all staff are trained in emergency procedures, SOPs and any other mandatory training or licences
  • Undertake risk assessments and updates of SOPs
  • Conduct staff inductions
  • Assist with the management of Workers Compensation Claims

 

About you

  • While working experience of 1 to 2 years in a WHS role is ideal, candidates with the right attitudes and skills will be considered
  • Qualification in WHS (cert 4 or diploma)
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Proven computer literacy in excel, word and outlook
  • Demonstrated strong customer service focus
  • Ability to prioritise and multi-skill
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Experience managing workers’ compensation claims (desirable)
