Head of Transport and Logistics
Andrews Meat Industries is a leading food service meat supplier comprising three key divisions: foodservice, value added (cooked) and export. Across these divisions, the company supplies to all areas of the hospitality industry, including restaurants, cafes, hotels, clubs, and resort groups, as well as servicing a number of other market segments, including health and aged care, education, aviation, and sporting venues.
About the Role:
A fantastic opportunity has opened up for an experienced and proactive Transport & Logistics professional to join Andrews Meat Industries based at our Lidcombe facility. In this key leadership role, you will oversee the day-to-day coordination of transport operations while managing a high-performing team and ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service.
You will play a pivotal role in improving operational efficiency, maintaining compliance, and building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders—including suppliers, drivers, contractors, customers, and 3PL partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain a safe, compliant, and productive work environment for all team members.
- Lead and manage the transport team, including recruitment, training, development, and performance management.
- Oversee the planning and routing of delivery runs to optimise efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure full compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR), maintenance, and mass management regulations.
- Drive improvements in customer service, ensuring our transport division consistently delivers a premium experience.
- Manage relationships with Third-Party Logistics (3PL) providers to support operational needs and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor and manage departmental budgets and cost controls.
- Communicate effectively across the supply chain to ensure smooth coordination and issue resolution.
- Foster a continuous improvement culture within the transport function.
Key Criteria:
- Proven experience in a senior transport/logistics role, ideally in a fast-paced or FMCG environment.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management experience, with a track record of motivating teams and driving performance.
- Strong understanding of customer service best practices in a logistics environment.
- Previous experience working with or managing 3PL providers.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) legislation and relevant compliance requirements.
- Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
- Energetic, results-driven, and passionate about improving systems and processes.
- Experienced in fleet management
- Experience with route planning and optimization software
