About the Role
Primo Foods have a rare opportunity for a Facilities Manager to join the Engineering team based in Chullora. This role is responsible for ensuring competent industrial services management and operation as well as overall management of building and facilities maintenance. The Facilities Manager requires attention to plant specific equipment such as LV electrical reticulation, refrigeration, HVAC, compressed air services, water and fire services, waste plant and grounds.
Your responsibilities will include:
- You will be responsible for repairs to our assets and driving outcomes while adhering to budget requirements. With a team of Trades and Engineering personnel in your charge, you will be ensuring the plant maintains the highest level of availability possible to achieve business targets.
- Ensures that personnel managing, operating and maintaining industrial services plant and infrastructure are competent to do so. Ensures that competency assessment and competency building plans are in place, routinely reviewed and executed for the Industrial Services and facility management team.
- Responsible for repairs to facilities and raising minor capital projects to implement site improvements.
- Accountable for ensuring short term rectification of problems with assets and aligning improvements to site and national project initiatives and assisting the Operations Team in sustainable outcomes for timely and cost-effective plant repairs.
- Plan the maintenance for your team aligning with the production maintenance team
- Providing technical support to other tradespeople, supervising Trades personnel, and working closely with the Maintenance Supervisors to ensure the right level of support is being delivered to the business.
- Responsible for interfacing cohesively & effectively with the production operations leadership team as well as your team members, providing timely updates on equipment availability, to other Supervisors, and ensuring all necessary follow-up is progressed.
- Participating in continuous improvements and problem-solving initiatives
- Ensuring and maintaining compliance with safe work procedures
- Ensure immediate reaction to breakdowns and urgent work
- Liaise with the Engineering Manager in regard to the purchase of parts and materials to satisfy work order requirements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance and engineering systems of control appropriate for the Chullora plant operations.
About you:
- Experience in at least one Industrial Services engineering discipline, preferably in food related manufacturing environment
- Engineering Degree / Diploma (e.g. mechanical, electrical) or substantial practical experience in engineering. Qualifications in facilities management or a related discipline or equivalent industry experience is mandatory.
- Knowledge of local regulatory and statutory requirements relating to industrial services and environment
- Food plant principles and hygienic engineering: Food processing plants and technologies (Maintenance and Utilities), food safety, hygienic engineering.
- A solid understanding of refrigeration particularly with ammonia systems(advantageous), compressed air and steam generation systems maintenance is required
- Understanding of government requirements to ensure regulatory compliance is met for company internal authorities and local authorities for such things as water usage and discharge and trade-waste processing will be integral to your role.
- Working knowledge of Work Orders, Risk Assessments, Maintenance Planning and Scheduling, Design solutions for capital projects should be part of your past or current daily workflows.
- People and interpersonal skills management is key in you being successful in this role.

- Basic knowledge in electrical and low / high Voltage systems, Lockout Tag-out procedures and in Safety of Electrical Operations.
