Located in the Beef Capital of Australia, the JBS Rockhampton processing facility produces a range of pasture fed and grain fed beef products, from commodity to premium. Our organic beef brand, Acres Organic and Right to Roam, our verified grass-fed beef brand is both packed exclusively at Rockhampton. The plant employs approximately 500 team members with a current processing capacity of 700 head of beef cattle per day, operating 6 days/week.

About the Role

JBS Rockhampton is currently recruiting an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join the HR Team in a full-time capacity. Reporting to the HR Manager, the Senior Payroll Officer will be the primary point of contact for onsite Payroll queries, and will be supported by the site HR team and the Group Payroll Team (based in Brisbane).

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Processing end-to-end weekly payroll including the management of new starters, terminations, backpays, and employee deductions
• Applying and interpreting leave entitlements including recording and updating annual leave, sick leave and long service leave
• Generating and emailing payslips, payroll invoices and labour cost details for site each week
• Preparing PAYG withholding tax weekly instalments
• Preparing weekly payroll journals
• Preparing various payroll reports such as the weekly payroll cost, meat and union deductions
• Engaging in month-end procedures including leave liability accruals, payroll tax, child support, capital mutual and garnishee deductions reports as well as the management of tax file numbers
• Handling various issues, including workers queries, employee verifications, etc

About You

• Demonstrated experience with legislative payroll, enterprise agreement interpretation and compliance with payroll related taxes
• Previous experience in a similar Payroll role, processing end-to-end payroll  
• Experience with Kronos advantageous
• Experience with SAP advantageous
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Broad general knowledge of Industrial and Employee Relations (IR and ER)
• Strong IT skills including working knowledge of the MS Office Suite
• Previous exposure to a HRIS advantageous
• Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment
