Sustainability Projects Manager

JBS Australia’s Northern Division operates five strategically-placed processing facilities as well as five feedlots across Queensland and New South Wales, with access to an extensive network of quality cattle.  Our network provides the ability to meet the specific demands of various market segments with an extensive range of grain-fed and pasture-fed products.

 

About the role:

We are seeking a talented mechanical engineer to drive capital projects to deliver on the JBS Australia sustainability strategy. The role will assist the company to achieve its targets of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040, 100% renewable electricity usage, and materially reduced water usage.  This newly created permanent full-time role will support the JBS Group Manager Sustainability and Group Engineering team, based at our Riverview location. 

 

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Scope and drive innovative capex projects across the business in order for JBS to deliver on its sustainability targets, working with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop financial costings and present business cases for senior management to consider
  • Identify and assess technologies and innovations applicable to a range of sustainability issues particularly energy, water, emissions and waste, to support the JBS sustainability strategy.

 

About you:

  • Mechanical Engineering or similar degree is mandatory, with a minimum 8 years of experience (preference for manufacturing, agricultural and/or sustainability projects)
  • Proven strong project management experience
  • Ability to manage effectively across onsite operations teams, senior management and external consultants to drive projects
  • Strong commercial focus with excellent attention to detail
  • Technical understanding of sustainability-related technologies and engineering/systems solutions covering a broad range of areas particularly energy, water, emissions and waste
  • Demonstrated computer literacy in excel, word, outlook and project management software
  • Available to travel to interstate and regional sites, as required.
