About the Role
Due to the continued growth of the JBS Australia Northern business, we are currently seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join our team, with a specific focus on supporting our plant operations. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the Management Accountant plays a pivotal role within the Northern Finance team. This position will work closely with the Operations Accounting team, providing strategic direction, professional development, and coaching to team members. A key responsibility will also involve driving continuous improvement across financial systems and processes.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Serve as a business partner to the Northern Operations Management team, providing support on all matters relating to the Northern Plants performance and financial processes
- Review, collect and record data for preparation of timely and accurate weekly/monthly results/reports
- Review and prepare journals and general ledger reconciliations
- Review and prepare month end reports including analysis of operating costs
- Liaise with Senior Management and manage queries on site
- Analyse standard to actual cost variances; identify challenges and opportunities and recommend corrective actions as indicated by performance to meet cost performance targets
- Support the business plan and annual budget process, working closely with key stakeholders to build financial forecasts based on the company’s strategic direction
- Providing Auditors with samples and reports as required
- Manage monitoring AFE project completion and facilitation of asset capitalization for Northern Business Unit
- Provide leadership and people management through effective communications, coaching, training and development of the team of northern plant accountants
About You
- Tertiary accounting qualifications and professional membership (CA or CPA) desirable
- Experience in a similar management accounting role in a large business (ideally a minimum of 5 years’ experience)
- High attention to detail
- Advanced MS Office skills (Excel – including macros, PowerPoint and Word)
- Experience with data reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, QlikSense or equivalent) desirable
- SAP experience is desirable
- Ability to prioritise, multi-skill and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to identify basic cause and effect relationships with strong analytical skills
- Strong commercial acumen to ensure data-informed decision making
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
- Must be energetic, passionate and enthusiastic with a demonstrated focus on system improvement
