About the Role
The JBS Feedlot Graduate Program is a pathway for participants to undergo a comprehensive set of development activities that will build a fundamental understanding of feedlot operations from cattle procurement, cattle management, animal health and nutrition, ration formulation, feeding operations and delivering cattle to meet market specifications.
The program will run over a two-year period across multiple sites and disciplines. You will be based at one our five Northern Feedlots (Beef City, Mungindi, Caroona, Riverina or Prime City), but there will be a requirement to travel and stay at various site locations during the program rotations. At the completion of the program, JBS Australia will guarantee your ongoing employment in a mutually agreeable position within the company.
The successful candidate for this position will have the desire to learn the feedlot business from the ground up, undertaking an accelerated learning experience to develop skills that will allow them to build a career with JBS. We are looking for someone who is team oriented, willing to be involved in day-to-day operations and would like to undertake future cross training and development in key operational tasks in the Feedlot Grain-Fed business.
The key components of the program will include:
- Participating in rotations across multiple sites and functions of the feedlot business, including:
- Livestock management and health
- Mill operations, feeding and nutrition
- Quality assurance, WHS, environment and administrative functions
- Farming and commodity production
- Participating in rotations across other areas of the business, including:
- Livestock procurement
- Beef processing operations
- Sales and marketing
- Participating in on-the-job and external training to facilitate development of key skills, including:
- Certificate III in Feedlot Operations
- Horsemanship clinic (where applicable)
- ALFA Animal Welfare Workshop
- ALFA Nutrition and Milling Workshop
- Participating in other activities as directed (e.g. operational tasks, project work, presentations and meetings) in order to develop soft skills, technical capability and project management skills.
About You
- Graduate or in the final year of an undergraduate degree in animal science, agribusiness or related discipline
- Demonstrated ability to research and filter and organise information on a range of unfamiliar topics
- Self motivated and demonstrated ability to learn and adapt quickly across complex environments
- Proven ability to take ownership and show initiative
- High level of computer literacy/capability specifically within MS Office
- Must hold a current open Australian driver’s license
- Must be prepared to re-locate and rotate between the northern feedlot sites and head office
