About the Role

Our Northern Ops division are currently recruiting an experienced Divisional FSQA Manager – Beef, to join the Food Safety team in a permanent full-time capacity. Based at Riverview, and reporting to the Group FSQA Manager, this role will provide support to our Northern beef plant management teams through the development and implementation of continuous improvement strategies to ensure we are meeting all legal, licensing, certification and customer requirements in relation to food safety and quality assurance.

                                                                  

This role also supports our Corporate departments across key FSQA related projects, activities and emerging requirements, as well as working with our FSQA Management Teams to assist with operational improvements and challenges, facilitating communication and fostering a collaborative environment to enhance our FSQA performance. 

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring our quality management remain current and uniform across the Northern Plants 
  • Performing regular visits to our Northern plants and Hemmant Cold Store to provide support to our Management Teams relating to the administration, application and training in the JBS FSQA Quality Management Systems.
  • Performing internal reviews of the QMS that incorporates documentation, implementation of standards and  operational procedural excellence.
  • Ensuring that our commitment to Animal Welfare is clearly understood and embedded within our culture through training, monitoring, CCTV analysis, trends, weekly monitoring results.
  • Ensuring that plants are well informed of all relevant legislation, food safety issues, legislative, scientific and technical developments
  • Providing reviews of QMS documentation being prepared for amendments and submission for to DAFF
  • Reviewing and supporting our Plants with investigations including complying with and responding to significant overseas market access and customer requirement opportunities
  • Supporting and assisting our Plants in the preparation and participation in significant regulatory and key customer and certification third-party audits
  • Maintaining an up-to-date reference standard document and liaising with DAFF to ensure reference documents are up to date including the filing and registering of all controlled documents (e.g. Export Meat Manuals, legislation, DAWR Notices, AUS-MEAT information and legislation
  • Identifying, developing and working on key process improvement projects and strategies.
  • Managing and chairing regular FSQA Team meetings across both the Northern and Corporate FSQA teams
  • Supporting the development of a competent, capable and committed FSQA Management Team network to meet present and future organisational needs
  • Leading, developing and coaching staff in FSQA themed activities across the Northern team
  • Working alongside the FSQA management team to ensure the effective roll out of new, significant FSQA projects and procedures to ensure they are uniform and standardised across the group and that they meet relevant regulation.

 

About You

  • Previous experience in a similar FSQA leadership position within the beef industry
  • Sound knowledge and application of HACCP principles
  • Competencies in AUS-MEAT / MSA / Meat Industry Language
  • Good understanding of regulatory requirements relating to the meat industry (AA, ELMER, MiCOR, and AUS-MEAT etc.
  • Experience with root cause investigations including compiling and closing-out outstanding correction actions from key audit reports)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills including the ability to negotiate and deal with auditors
  • Comfortable with providing training in procedural requirements to FSQA Team members
  • Internal Audit competency / certification
  • Strong computer literacy skills with the ability to pick up new systems quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to respond calmly in difficult situations whilst maintaining a strong customer service focus and level of compliance.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment across numerous projects and conflicting deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment
