About the Role:

Seven Point Australian Pork (a part of JBS Australia) is currently seeking an experienced and passionate Plant Accountant. Reporting to the Plant Manager and Pork Division Financial Controller. The Plant Accountant is responsible for upholding the financial integrity of the Port Wakefield Site, the provision of strategic financial advice, whilst ensuring compliance and accuracy within the Group’s financial and reporting processes. 

 

 

Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

  • Ensure accountability, accuracy and integrity of financial transactions within the general ledger and responsible for ensuring the chart of accounts is relevant to the organisation’s operations;
  • Ensure the efficient and effective provision of accurate and timely financial and accounting services;
  • Coordinate inventory counts with operations in month end reconciliation;
  • Assist with the preparation and collation of the plant budget as outlined by the Group;
  • Participate fully in both internal and external financial audits as required,
  • Completion of the monthly accruals, journals, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules;
  • Prepare progress budget reports on at least a quarterly basis for Senior Management and Directors;
  • Offer advice and guidance regarding financial management and control matters;
  • Promote safety values and participate in a well-developed site safety culture.

 

About You:

  • Achievement of a tertiary qualification in accounting or a business-related discipline suitable for admission to a professional accounting body (CPA Australia, Institute of Chartered Accountants or National Institute of Accountants in Australia);
  • Previous experience in a similar professional Accounting role in a large, industrial environment;
  • Ability to apply innovative thought and an analytical approach to work; to form a range of options with justification and recommendations for presentation to the Plant Manager, Senior Leaders and Directors;
  • Ability to solve complex problems by the effective application of innovative, or established, techniques and procedures in a demanding operating environment using the application of professional or technical knowledge;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to write reports and prepare external correspondence;
  • Ability to work unsupervised, to set priorities, plan and organise workload to achieve the goals and objectives of the business unit.
