We have an exciting opportunity for a Southern Projects Engineer to join our team. As the Projects Engineer, you will be responsible for leading engineering projects across our five fast-paced manufacturing facilities and one feedlot. You will drive successful project outcomes by overseeing project execution and ensuring safety, production, cost, compliance, and continuous improvement in plant operations.

 

Working closely with plant operations and engineering teams, you will provide direction, technical support, and advice to ensure project success. You will also identify future capital investment opportunities based on equipment lifecycle, reliability, and sustainability initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities Include (But Are Not Limited To):

Engineering Leadership & Management:

  • Contribute to the development of a 3-year Divisional Project Forecast, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
  • Implement efficient Capital Program control systems tailored to Engineering Team requirements.
  • Monitor and review annual, quarterly, and monthly capital activities to ensure priorities are met across all sites.
  • Provide direction and support to Engineering and Maintenance teams to ensure alignment with the Southern Divisional Capital Plan.
  • Advocate for value-added interventions at Capital Program meetings.
  • Manage budgeting and cost control for capital projects, including short- and long-term forecasts and rolling Capex plans.
  • Oversee contractor and supplier management to ensure effective resource use.
  • Ensure materials management, including spare parts and inventory, is integrated into capital projects.

Continuous Improvement:

 

  • Investigate site downtime events and collaborate with teams to eliminate root causes using engineering solutions.
  • Analyse production and maintenance data to identify opportunities for process improvement and reduce recurring breakdowns.
  • Manage the BU Capital Plan (3- and 1-year) to meet ROI benchmarks, ideally with paybacks within 12 months.
  • Lead and manage nominated capital projects from initiation to completion, including design, cost estimation, implementation, and auditing of savings and gains.
  • Ensure maintenance considerations are incorporated into all capital projects.

 

What You’ll Bring to the Table:

  • An Electrical or Mechanical degree (preferred), or equivalent experience in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in simultaneously leading multiple large-scale projects in an FMCG environment.
  • In-depth understanding of Capital work management practices.
  • Ability to plan, organise, and control project activities to optimise resource use.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Sound knowledge of WH&S regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant engineering software.
