Product Technologist

About the Role

We have an opportunity for a Product Technologist to join our Rivalea team in a permanent full-time capacity. Reporting to the Product Research & Development Manager, this position will play a key role in assessing new and existing processes, executing the R&D and product improvement agenda, and collaborating with commercial and production teams to bring consumer-preferred food products to life.

We are open to the successful applicant being based either in Corowa NSW or Melbourne VIC.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead product development for breakthrough innovation projects, ensuring that projects are managed through the stage gate process and can be successfully delivered.
• Ideally, we are looking for a candidate who is also prepared to act as project manager on their projects.
• Responsible for the preparation of costings for product concepts.
• Co-ordinate and work with the marketing and sales team, planning, operations, and procurement to execute new product launches.
• Initiate, develop, acquire, and test raw materials for sample preparation.
• Participate and lead industrial scale trials and collect data and feedback for improvements and specifications.
• Present samples for customer, shelf life, and nutrition information panel validation.
• Prepare and complete customer specific documents and relevant specifications.
• Writing operating procedures and specifications for new products or processes.
• Troubleshoot formulation changes as required for product optimisation.
• Explore ways to support product, packaging, and process improvements.

About you:

• Experience in Food Manufacturing either in a factory/ kitchen lab environment with Degree qualifications (preference in Fresh Meat or Protein)
• Excellent knowledge of food preparation, technical & functional food ingredients, cooking, and food safety standards within Australia and New Zealand
• Demonstrated skills and competency in project management.
• Confident in presenting new development concepts to internal and external customers effectively with strong presentation and communication skills.
• Love working in a team and passionate about collaborating cross functionally to deliver.
• The ability to manage, prioritise and establish own workload to meet project timeframes.
• High level communication skills, initiative, and strong attention to detail.
• Strong time management, data management, planning, and organisational skills.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel).
• Current driver’s license.
