Join our team as an Industrial Engineering Manager – Southern and embark on an exciting career. As the Industrial Engineering Manager – Southern, your focus will be on how to get the work done most efficiently—balancing many factors such as time, labour, throughput, available technology, and product quality. Your goal is to deliver error-free end products while optimising worker safety and minimising environmental impacts, all within agreed budget parameters.

 

You’ll find ways to eliminate inefficiencies in production processes to achieve a 3% year-on-year reduction in production/processing roles, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and devise smarter ways to use labour, machinery, materials, information, and energy.

 

As the Industrial Engineer Southern you will play a pivotal role in:

 

  • Review current operations to find ways to improve processes, workflows, and reduce costs.
  • Develop and implement practical solutions in collaboration with operations teams.
  • Design, install, and maintain cost-effective manufacturing methods across Southern sites.
  • Work with Business Analysts to turn data into actionable improvements.
  • Lead work measurement projects to boost efficiency.
  • Analyse production costs and assess ROI for new products and projects.
  • Support the setup of new production lines with a focus on cost efficiency.
  • Assist with project planning and execution.
  • Identify and resolve production bottlenecks.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts in high-volume environments.
  • Reduce waste, rework, and cycle times across operations.
  • Partner with engineering to improve equipment performance.
  • Train managers on new systems, processes, and technologies.
  • Manage labour cost strategies across Southern operations.
  • Support financial planning and cost analysis
  • Stay up to date with new technologies and industry best practices.

The ideal candidate for this role is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses a strong drive for operational excellence.

You should have: 

 

  • Formal undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5–7 years’ experience in industrial engineering or relevant manufacturing/production roles.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Proven experience with process improvement methodologies: PDCA, Six Sigma, Lean, RCA, SMED, Kaizen.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational, prioritisation, and multitasking skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail in fast-paced environments.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate about system improvements and innovation.
  • Able to consider different perspectives and respond calmly in high-pressure situations.
  • Proactive—sees opportunities and takes initiative.
  • Willingness to travel interstate as required.
  • Makes themselves fully available and accountable when needed.
