We’re looking for a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager to lead strategic and operational initiatives at our Brooklyn Plant, one of Australia’s largest multi-species meat processing facilities. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute site-specific Health, Safety & Wellbeing strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Champion a proactive safety culture and embed accountability across all departments and shifts.
- Ensure compliance with Victorian WHS legislation, food safety standards, and industry codes of practice.
- Lead investigations into incidents and near misses, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Oversee risk assessments for high-risk areas including slaughter, boning, packing, and cold storage zones.
- Design and implement wellbeing programs addressing physical and psychological demands of meat processing work.
- Promote mental health awareness and resilience through training and support services.
- Lead injury management and return-to-work programs, ensuring timely interventions and accurate reporting.
- Manage and develop a team of professionals across health, safety, wellbeing, and first aid.
- Build strong relationships with employees, contractors, union representatives, and regulators.
- Represent the site in external audits, industry forums, and regulatory engagements.
What you will bring to the table:
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety, Risk Management, or related discipline.
- 5–7 years’ experience in a senior safety leadership role within food manufacturing or meat processing.
- Demonstrated experience managing wellbeing programs, injury management, and first aid teams.
- Strong understanding of Victorian WHS legislation and regulatory frameworks.
- Influential leadership skills with the ability to drive cultural change and engage diverse teams.
- Analytical and data-driven approach to safety performance and risk management.
- Passion for employee wellbeing and psychological safety.
