Food Safety Quality Assurance Officer

JBS Australia’s Southern Division, headquartered in Melbourne, has the largest multi-species processing facility in Australia, processing beef, sheep, and goats. We are currently looking for a Food Safety Quality Assurance Officer to be based at our Brooklyn Plant located 15 minutes west of the Melbourne CBD. Reporting to the Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager your brief is simple, develop, deliver and maintain a sustainability program for the business.

 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Quality production due to the procedures used in processing, preparation and dispatch parameters as laid down in government regulations, both internally and externally to Australia
  • Interaction with management, production and supervisory personnel
  • Interact/liaise with DA and other regulatory bodies.
  • Revise by amendment, when necessary, all publications and quality manuals
  • Monitor to ensure the continued surveillance and reporting by the FSQA team of all processes.
  • Ensure samples required by the laboratory are collected Participate in internal/external audits.
  • Monitor total hygiene practices.
  • Maintain an up-to-date status of all publications/manuals Monitor/record, when necessary, results of instrument calibration e.g., scales, thermometers, torches and PH meter.
  • Stop production regardless of location in nonconformities are not or cannot be corrected whilst production continues.

 

About you:

  • Highly developed time management skills including prioritising tasks.
  • Intermediate computer literacy (particularly MS Office)
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Company specifications and customer requirements.
  • Ausmeat Accreditations would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the understanding and implementation of Quality Assurance and HACCP Principles
  • Demonstrated ability to identify critical aspects of production.
  • Knowledge of Harvest floor, Boning Room and Cold Store processes would be an advantage.
  • Internal auditing experience and qualifications would be favourable received.
