We have an amazing opportunity for a dynamic, high-performing Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Officer to join our team, focusing exclusively on our Cold Stores operations at our Brooklyn Food Processing Facility.
In this role, you will bring and foster a high-performance mindset to ensure that the quality of all frozen and chilled products is maintained in strict accordance with product specifications, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
From optimising cold chain processes to ensuring quality standards are met, you'll be at the forefront of delivering a product you can genuinely be proud of.
As a Food Safety Quality Assurance Officer, you will play a pivotal role in:
- Quality & Dispatch Compliance: Ensuring quality production by adhering to cold chain processing, preparation, temperature logging, and dispatch procedures.
- Regulatory Liaison: Interacting closely with management, production, and supervisory personnel, and liaising with the Department of Agriculture (DA) and other regulatory bodies.
- Surveillance & Reporting: Monitoring the Cold Store facility environment (including blast freezers, holding rooms, and loading docks) for continuous surveillance and reporting.
- Audits & Sampling: Collecting operational and environmental samples for laboratory testing and participating actively in internal and regulatory audits.
- Documentation: Amending, revising, and maintaining up-to-date quality manuals, cold chain publications, and compliance records.
- Equipment Verification: Monitoring and recording critical testing instrument calibration results (such as temperature probes).
- Site Hygiene: Overseeing hygiene practices and ensuring strict compliance with operational standards.
The ideal candidate for this role is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses a strong drive for operational excellence.
You should have:
- Proven expertise in Quality Assurance and HACCP Principles (essential).
- Strong knowledge of Cold Store processes, freezing technologies, and cold chain management (highly advantageous).
- Ability to identify critical aspects of production and spot temperature or quality deviations early.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently interact with regulatory authorities.
- Strong time management, prioritisation, and organisational skills.
- Intermediate computer literacy (MS Office).
- Ausmeat Accreditations (advantageous).
- Internal auditing experience and qualifications favourable).
- A passion for sustainability and a willingness to embrace innovation.
