JBS Brooklyn, located just 15 minutes west of Melbourne’s CBD, is currently seeking a Leading Hand for our Cold Stores warehouse to join our Morning shift.
This is a hand‑on leadership opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual who demonstrates strong safety awareness, operational knowledge, and the ability to lead by example in a fast‑paced cold storage environment.

As a Leading Hand within Cold Storage Receival, you will support daily warehouse and logistics operations by coordinating staff, monitoring workflow, and ensuring compliance with safety, food quality, and company standards. The role works closely with Supervisors and Cold Storage manager to ensure efficient and safe receival activities during the morning shift.
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Leading and supporting receival teams to meet daily schedules
- Ensuring all safety, PPE, QA, and food standards are followed
- Coordinating staff allocation, breaks, and task priorities
- Monitoring product handling, defects, damages, and housekeeping
- Supporting daily handovers and communication between shifts
- Reporting hazards, incidents, equipment faults, and absences
- Assisting with training, guidance, and implementation of new procedures
- Ensure any team members operating any mobile plant equipment are filling in pre – operational check books. E.g. Forklifts, Reach Forklifts.
You must be comfortable working in chilled and frozen environments, managing people, and maintaining strong safety and operational standards across the shift.
About You
- Available Monday–Friday, Morning Shift (5:00am–1:30pm)
- Previous experience in cold storage, receival, warehouse, or production environments
- Demonstrated leadership or leading hand experience (preferred)
- Good understanding of WHS, food safety, and QA requirements
- Comfortable working in cold rooms (approx. 2°C)
- Physically capable of manual handling tasks
- Reliable transport and consistent attendance
- Willing to complete pre‑employment requirements, including medical assessment and Q Fever immunisation
