Maintenance Mechanical Supervisor

About the Role:

Situated on 2,000ha, the JBS Riverina Plant is a part of the Riverina integrated farming, feedlot and processing operation. The cattle are walked from the feedlot to the plant, minimizing stress and transportation costs, while simultaneously improving eating quality – one of only two in the southern hemisphere.

Based just outside Yanco, between the popular townships of Leeton and Narrandera in the heart of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation district (or Riverina region), our location ensures the ability to source high quality feeder cattle and grain to produce premium beef. The plant employs approximately 450 team members with a processing capacity of 600 head of cattle per day, operating 5 days per week.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Mechanical Supervisor at our Riverina Processing Facility. The Mechanical Supervisor position reports to the Plant Engineer and has responsibility for a range of mechanical maintenance and installation projects, as well as general maintenance supervision activities associated with the operations of a fast-paced manufacturing facility. The position is hands on and requires the ability to lead and develop the other maintenance team members.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement maintenance plans.
• Monitor safe working practices in accordance with the workplace health and safety act and JBS policies and procedures
• Take a proactive role in understanding the root causes of downtime and working on solutions
• Ensure immediate reaction to breakdowns and urgent work;
• Liaise with the Plant Engineer and Maintenance Planner, work orders, work plans, technical information, inspection reports and other information.
• Ensure all mechanical documentation and schematics are securely retained, updated and maintained.
• Program and ensure all statutory requirements are met.

Criteria:

• Fitting & Turning qualifications, experience in pneumatics & hydraulics, refrigeration and steam
• Post trade plant maintenance and Supervisory experience, including planning and execution and documentation
• High level of competence in fault finding and rectification of mechanical systems and components
• Sound knowledge and application of workplace health and safety regulations
• Ability to provide leadership guidance and direction to maintenance personnel, including Contractor supervision
• Ability to contribute to the development of knowledge, skills and abilities of members of the maintenance team including apprentices
