Situated on 2,000ha, the JBS Riverina Feedlot is a part of the Riverina integrated farming, feedlot, and processing facility. The cattle are walked from the feedlot to the plant, minimising stress, carbon emissions and transportation costs while simultaneously improving eating quality. Based just outside Yanco, between the popular townships of Leeton and Narrandera in southern NSW. Being in the heart of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation district (or Riverina region), ensures the ability to source high quality feeder cattle and grain to produce premium beef. The Feedlot has a capacity of 53,333 head, employs approximately 60 team members, and has a strong reputation for producing award winning grain-fed beef for key domestic and international customers.
About the Role
The JBS Riverina Feedlot is currently recruiting for an experienced Animal health Foreperson to lead and motivate our dedicated livestock team.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Coordination of the Animal Health team in conjunction with the Livestock Supervisor
- Overseeing daily supervision of livestock handling, including pen riding, livestock acclimation, hospital treatments and post-mortems
- Administration and accurate record keeping of animal treatments in line with JBS treatment protocols
- Inventory management as required including calibration, auditing and stocktaking
- Team engagement, development and training in a positive and proactive manner
- Ensuring team compliance with JBS Australia policies, including but not limited to: WHS, HR, QA, Animal Welfare & Environmental obligations
About You
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience
- Previous Livestock handling and/or Feedlot experience
- Strong commitment to animal welfare, health and nutrition
- Previous experience managing and coordinating teams
- Strong written and excellent verbal communication skills
- High levels of self-motivation
- Strong planning capabilities
