Operations Manager

About the Role

Based at Riverview (Ipswich), the JBS Carriers team is seeking an experienced leader to join the transportation arm of the business as Operations Manager. Reporting to the JBS Carriers General Manager, this role is responsible for managing the movement of livestock, refrigerated vans, tippers and tankers across feedlots, abattoirs and cold stores.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Create a safe working environment for employees
• Oversee the movements/allocations across all divisions including livestock, fridge vans, tippers and tankers in Carriers operations of JBS Australia to ensure the most cost effective and efficient manner
• Mentor, influence and assist the Carriers planners/schedulers
• Ensure ongoing compliance to the National Heavy Vehicle Law
• Ensure all vehicles/trailers are kept within the maintenance/mass standards
• Ensure all budgeting requirements are met
• Identify growth areas and endeavour to improve financial profitability
• Effectively communicate with all stakeholders in the supply chain
• Always work to ensure that our transport division delivers a premium service to all customers so that we are requested for repeat business

About You

• Experience in logistics in a fast-moving food manufacturing environment
• Must have experience in supervision or management with proven ability to lead, manage and motivate staff
• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
• Sound knowledge of National Heavy Vehicle Law
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment
• Energetic, passionate and enthusiastic with a demonstrated focus on system improvement
• Effective problem-solving skills
