Microbiology Lab Technician

About the Role

JBS Dinmore is currently recruiting a Microbiology Lab Technician to join the Lab team. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager and working closely with Departmental Supervisors, operational teams, and the FSQA team, you will play an important role in maintaining food safety, product quality and regulatory compliance across our operations.

As our Microbiology Lab Technician, you will conduct routine microbiological testing of meat, meat products and wastewater samples while ensuring all testing is completed accurately and in accordance with established sampling plans, NATA requirements and food safety standards. You will prepare microbiological media, maintain reference cultures, interpret and report laboratory results and support environmental monitoring programs. Working closely with operational teams, you will also assist in investigating microbiological issues, maintaining laboratory equipment and documentation and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that support food safety and quality outcomes.

• Full-time | Monday to Friday
• 7am to 3pm
• $28.43 per hour + penalty rates (if applicable)

About You

As our successful candidate, you will ideally have:

• A tertiary qualification in Microbiology or Applied Science (majoring in Microbiology)
• Experience with basic microbiological laboratory techniques
• Knowledge of pipette calibration, incubator validation and balance checks (desirable)
• Experience with STEC/Salmonella testing using GDS, BAX or VIDAS (desirable)
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with people across all levels of the business
• Access to reliable transport
• Flexibility to work across different shifts and occasional weekend work to provide leave coverage
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
