Laboratory Technician

About the Role

JBS Dinmore is seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician to join our team in a full-time capacity (Friday to Monday roster). Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the successful candidate will conduct bio-chemical and microbiological testing on food and water samples.

This role requires close collaboration with Departmental Supervisors and FSQA Officers to ensure all sample collections align strictly with our established sampling plans.

Your daily responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining a laboratory and its procedures according to NATA requirements
• Carrying out routine microbiological analysis of meat, meat products and waste water
• Reference culture management
• Completing media preparation and quality control
• Interpreting and reporting test results
• Maintaining the integrity of sample testing and reporting
• Proactively assisting the Supervisors/Forepersons in correcting problems relating to microbiological results

About You

• Tertiary qualifications in Microbiology or Applied Science with a major in Microbiology (preference will be given to applicants with molecular technique)
• Experience with Pipette Calibration, Incubator Validation and Balance Checks
• Experience with STEC/ Salmonella testing with GDS/ BAX / VIDAS
• Experience with basic microbiological techniques
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management
• Access to reliable transport
• Willingness to work across different shifts as well as the flexibility to work over the weekends to cover annual/sick leave
• Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
