About the Role
The JBS Pork Division is currently recruiting a Laboratory Technician (Microbiology) to join the team in a permanent part-time capacity. Based onsite in Corowa (NSW). The primary position objectives are to provide efficient and reliable technical support and to maintain the microbiological testing facility in accordance with NATA requirements.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Maintain the laboratory and its procedures according to NATA requirements.
- Conducting routine testing of product and product contact surfaces.
- Performing microbiological analysis of sample for organisms relevant to shelf life and food safety.
- Media preparation and quality control.
- Calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Interpretation and reporting of accurate results to the Laboratory Supervisor.
- Assist with Meat Science and Microbiology related research projects.
- General laboratory housekeeping, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Other relevant duties as required.
- Available to work weekends if required.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Desirable but not essential; Degree in Microbiology or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in a microbiology laboratory, particularly detecting pathogens.
- A working knowledge of laboratory quality and NATA requirements.
- High level communication skills, initiative, and strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective time management skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Current driver’s licence.
