Strategically located on the Liverpool Plains of NSW, one hour west of Tamworth, JBS Australia’s Caroona Feedlot employs approximately 50 people and includes a dryland and irrigation farming operation. With a licensed capacity of 28,000 head, access to an extensive network of quality cattle and ideally placed between the Riverina & Beef City plants, Caroona is a vital asset in the supply of grain fed cattle for both the JBS Queensland and New South Wales based processing facilities. The farm supplies the grain, silage and hay required for the cattle in the feedlot.
About the Role
JBS Australia’s Caroona Feedlot is currently recruiting an experienced Safety Advisor to join the team in a full-time capacity. Reporting to the Feedlot Manager, you will work collaboratively with the site leadership team to ensure consistency and drive continuous improvement across Workplace Health & Safety. You will play a key role in leading both the planning and day-to-day delivery of workplace health and safety and compliance. You will provide expert advice and support to managers and staff on all health and safety matters. This role operates in line with relevant legislation, standards, and requirements, while upholding JBS values, policies, and code of conduct.

Your key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the JBS Safety Management System (SMS) is effectively implemented and maintained
- Regularly reviewing site WHS programs with the aim to continuously improve WHS performance and culture
- Leading the identification and control of hazards where appropriate
- Providing assistance and guidance in the investigation of incidents
- Leading safety inspection processes
- Actively mentoring and coaching team members to establish a sustained safety culture
- Championing employee health and wellbeing
- Supporting and assisting Contractor Management
- Leading the WHS Committee and promoting ongoing consultation and communication with the team
- Supporting operational management by ensuring all safety requirements are adhered to
- Supporting the operational teams and administering the site usage of the electronic WHS systems
- Maintaining site emergency procedures and ensure emergency preparedness
- Completing site WHS reporting for Feedlot safety meetings and corporate WHS reporting requirements
About You
- Proven experience in and understanding of interpreting and applying the requirements of WHS legislation in the workplace
- Proven confidence with providing advice as well as coaching and mentoring on WHS requirements
- Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety (desirable)
- Demonstrated computer literacy in MS Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
- Experience working in intensive rural and farming backgrounds (desirable)
- Ability to adapt to an ever changing, fast paced environment
- Great communication and collaboration skills
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment
- Energetic, passionate and enthusiastic with a proven commitment to safety and continuous improvement of WHS systems and culture
