With a licensed capacity of 28,000 head, access to an extensive network of quality cattle and ideally placed between the Riverina & Beef City plants, Caroona is a vital asset in the supply of grain fed cattle for both the JBS Queensland and New South Wales based processing facilities. The farm supplies the grain, silage and hay required for the cattle in the feedlot.

About the Role

JBS is looking for an experienced Animal Health Foreperson with a passion for the care and welfare of animals to oversee the Animal Health team at our Caroona Feedlot. 

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordination of the Animal Health team in conjunction with the Livestock Supervisor.
  • Overseeing the daily supervision of livestock handling including pen riding, low-stress livestock handling, hospital treatments, post-mortems and preparation of cattle ready for dispatch.
  • Comprehensive diagnosis of animal health symptoms across all feeding types.
  • Administration & accurate record keeping of animal health treatments in line with JBS treatment protocols.
  • Inventory management as required including calibration, auditing & stocktaking.
  • Ensuring team compliance with JBS Australia policies, including but not limited to: WHS, HR, QA, animal welfare & environmental obligations.

 

About You                

  • Own or have access to a work-ready horse (desirable).
  • Proven horsemanship skills.
  • Previous experience managing & coordinating animal health and the associated performance of these teams will be advantageous.
  • Strong commitment and dedication to the welfare of livestock.
  • Proficient computer and record keeping skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, high levels of self-motivation and strong planning capabilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience.
