About the Role
Primo Foods are seeking a Senior Product Developer – Existing Product Development to join the team on a permanent full-time basis in either Wacol or Chullora. This role assists in the implementation of the Company’s Product, Process and Packaging Value Engineering and Cost Out strategy, by identifying trends, process and product initiatives to support business in achieving goals.
Responsibilities include:
- Analyse company processes, formulations, raw material, yields and procedures.
- Work with key stake holders (operations, engineering, quality, purchasing, supply chain and marketing)
- Support Supply Chain challenges to ensure business continuity of product supply, e.g. ingredient substitutions.
- Identify areas of improvement for current products to improve efficiency, cost, quality, safety and consistency
- Review raw material usage, yields, evaluate the best usage to meet business objectives.
- Investigate shortfalls, issues and complaints in current business processes
- Communicate ideas, changes, results and issues to wider internal teams.
- Run trials & projects autonomously in the factory and track trial products through every step of the process, conduct shelf life and sensory assessment.
- Training, mentoring and guiding team members in new processes
- Priorities work schedule to ensure that tasks are completed within agreed timeframes
- Network with external suppliers around new innovations, equipment and systems
- Support the accuracy of our BOM’s and specifications.
- Keep abreast of regulatory and labelling requirements.

About you:
- 5+ years’ experience in food R&D, QA, or Operations roles (meat or smallgoods industry experiecne is highly valued).
- Advanced knowledge of FSANZ legal requirements. Awareness of legislative requirements and industry developments
- Ability to move around a manufacturing environment and get hands on in production.
- Ability to work with all types of Meat & Meat products
- Attention to detail and accuracy is essential
- Strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills
- The ability to prioritize tasks and be able to manage several projects and tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work on own initiative and as a team player
- Computer literacy, including Intermediate level of MS Office. Preferable experience using AS400, and iLeader.
- Sensitive to numbers, financial accumen and procedures
- Ability to work well under deadlines and pressure
- Approachable and enthusiastic.
- Good organizational skills with cultural awareness and sensitivity
