About the Role
Primo Foods have a new and exciting opportunity for a Project Manager – Operations to be based in either Chullora, Sydney or Wacol, Brisbane on a permanent full-time basis. This role leads and executes major projects within our operations and supply chain function. It is responsible for managing large-scale initiatives within R&D, engineering, capital, labour improvement, operational excellence, and cost saving projects in a fast-paced, high-volume smallgoods meat manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead, plan, and execute major operational projects, including R&D, engineering, process improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and operational excellence programs.
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and risk assessments to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Identify key project milestones and track progress, proactively addressing roadblocks.
- Coordinate and manage cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment between production, engineering, R&D, and leadership.
- Implement and sustain continuous improvement (CI) initiatives using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.
- Act as the primary point of contact for project-related communications, ensuring clear and transparent updates to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Facilitate regular project meetings, providing status reports, risk updates, and recommendations for project adjustments.
- Identify and implement efficiency improvements in production and operations, leveraging best practices in manufacturing.
- Lead projects focused on waste reduction, process optimization, and cost savings while maintaining quality and compliance.
- Drive automation and technology integration where applicable to improve operational performance
About you:
- Hands-on problem solver and strategic thinker with the ability to manage complex projects from start to finish
- A natural leader
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in project management within manufacturing, operations, product development or engineering.
- Strong experience in continuous improvement (CI), Lean, Six Sigma, and operational excellence methodologies.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar)
- PMP (Project Management Professional), PRINCE2, or equivalent certification (preferred)
- Experience in the food manufacturing industry, preferably meat or smallgoods.
- Knowledge of automation, engineering, and R&D processes within manufacturing.
- Experience with budgeting and financial analysis for project cost control.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
