About the role

 

JBS Australia is currently recruiting an experienced Back End Developer to join the Head Office IT Department in a permanent full-time capacity.

Based at Riverview, and reporting directly to the IT Support Manager, this is an excellent opportunity to work for a company that is leading the way in the meat industry and join a team of dedicated and innovative software developers. 

Initially as a Progress OpenEdge Developer, you will play a key role in providing front-line support of in-house developed/managed applications that run a large proportion of the operations side of the JBS Business. Applications include sales, production scheduling, on-floor production management, procurement, forex management, inventory & warehouse management.

Over the next 5 years JBS will be implementing a new stat of the art ERP and with training this role will play a significant role on the project and will be responsible for backend and integration development on the new platforms.

 

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

 

  • Analysis and design working with internal teams to produce the software design and architectures in line with Business requirements for a suite of OpenEdge applications.

  • Building and maintaining business solutions (focus on value realization) with focus on test and deployment activities to ensure success and operational stability.

  • Maintenance of existing systems developed in the suite of OpenEdge applications

  • Support of business activities using in-house developed & 3rd-party applications as an expert providing technical support (some after-hours support may be required)

  • Develop documentation throughout the software development life cycle.

  • Business Analysis, requirements gathering and writing specifications.

 

About you:

 

  • Degree in Information Technology or relevant field desirable

  • 5+ years’ experience in Progress OpenEdge version 10.c and later, working with GUI and CHUI applications as well as lifecycle management experience required for internal developed applications and maintenance processes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as ability to write technical specifications and technical support documentation

  • Agile software development experience (preferably SCRUM)

  • Experience with .Net technologies (esp. C#), MS SQL Server 2008 onwards and SAP finance would be a significant advantage

  • Experience  in requirements gathering & design experience ensuring that you can work with business users to understand requirements and support the application.
