About the Role:

Primo Foods have a great opportunity as an Automation Specialist based in Wacol. This role is responsible for providing advanced automation engineering and technical support to the team.

 

Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide troubleshooting & support services for all PLC and SCADA automation works to frontline Electrical & Operation team members
  • Take a proactive role in understanding the root causes of downtime and designing and implementing engineering solutions to eliminate those causes
  • Ensure immediate reaction to programming breakdowns and urgent work
  • Ensure all requested and scheduled automation tasks are investigated, planned, executed, completed and closed out on time and on budget
  • Liaise with the Maintenance Planner for the generation and issue of work orders, work plans, technical information, inspection reports and other information relating to work required to be performed on equipment.
  • Ensure all PLC documentation and schematics are securely retained, updated and maintained as required
  • Provide information for Engineering Manager reporting
  • Administration and maintenance of the SCADA System:
    • Maintain databases
    • Develop screen displays
    • Point building
    • Perform regular back-ups
    • Maintain workstations and configurations
    • Log all additions and changes
    • Scheduled tasks
    • User logons
    • General and system alarms
  • Development of functional specifications for new control processes
  • Design, development, installation, programming, commissioning and fault finding of the existing and new control systems
  • Maintain and provide all required control system documentation including schematics, manuals, parameters and layouts.
  • Manage allocated automation projects from implementation to completion

 

About you:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or similar field
  • Proficiency in maintaining automation equipment
  • Experience with robotics and machine learning
  • Experience with project management
  • Solid understanding of computer programming and software development
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform complex system tests
  • Creative thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A desire to continually upgrade technical knowledge
  • High level PLC & SCADA skills 
  • High competency with Rockwell & Ignition and basic knowledge on other PLC’s is highly desirable
  • Experience in the use of SAP
