As a Maintenance Fitter, you will play a pivotal role in:
- Conducting preventive and corrective maintenance on processing, packaging, production and rendering equipment to ensure optimal plant performance.
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults to minimise downtime and maintain production efficiency.
- Ensuring all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures and food safety requirements.
- Inspecting, servicing, and maintaining hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, and processing systems.
- Supporting the completion of scheduled maintenance tasks and responding promptly to equipment breakdowns.
- Working closely with production teams to maximise equipment reliability and availability.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and updating work orders as required.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives, 5S activities, and equipment reliability programs.
The ideal candidate for this role is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses a strong drive for operational excellence. You should have:
- Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Fitter and Turner, or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a food processing, manufacturing, or meat processing environment (preferred).
- Strong technical skills in mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, and associated equipment.
- The ability to diagnose faults and perform repairs efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Availability to work across different shifts and participate in on-call requirements as needed.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A proactive approach to safety, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
