About the Role

The JBS Townsville Plant is currently recruiting a passionate Engagement & Support Coordinator to join the HR team in a full-time capacity. ​Working closely with the HR team, you will be responsible for providing support to the Pacific Labour Scheme (PLS) workforce through the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, delivery of the initial onboarding activities, as well as the ongoing pastoral care of our internationally sourced employee groups through the PALM (Pacific Australia Labour Mobility) Program.

 

Additionally, this role will ensure the timely and efficient coordination and processing of all necessary paperwork to ensure legal compliance as the candidates move to the offer stage and then upon acceptance of the offer, will be responsible for the accurate processing of all paperwork related to a new hire/transfer.   

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • ​​Providing end-to-end, hands-on support and pastoral care to new employees across a range of new arrival activities including; 
    -   accommodation and appropriate living arrangements;
    -   personal finance, superannuation, insurance and banking services including TFN set up, tax returns and sending money home;
    -   essential items in Australia (SIM cards, phones, clothing, etc.);
    -   Australian driver’s licence;
    -   workplace rights and entitlements;
    -   health and medical contacts;
    -   education and training opportunities; and
    -   contacts for any diaspora in the community where they will live and work.
  • ​Maintaining accurate data records for immigration and reporting purposes via electronic and physical files
  • ​Engaging with external parties to support community integration (sporting clubs, volunteer work, churches, GP’s etc)
  • ​Working closely with team leaders and supporting/attending regular team meetings
  • ​Coordinating medical appointments and related transport (work related and personal) as required
  • Providing details on health insurance cover and assisting with claim submissions 
  • ​Coordinating and supporting work hardening programs 
  • ​Regularly reviewing deductions and working hours to ensure minimum requirements are met  
  • ​Completing pay rate increase notifications and amendments with original contracts 
  • ​Staying up-to-date with all PALM requirements including Approved Employer (AE) responsibilities and the first response escalation process
  • ​Managing all external training opportunities and funding requests through the PALM Skills Development Program
  • ​Supporting payroll queries as well as understanding all EBA, handbook and task descriptions
  • ​Providing regular updates and resources to PALM workers relating to local laws
  • ​Liaising with the PALM Coordinator for all Labour Sending Units (LSU) and Pacific Labour Facility (PLF) correspondence/notifications
  • ​Managing transportation arrangements along with roster requirements

 

About You

  • Strong end-to-end recruitment experience, ideally within a large blue-collar workforce
  • Working knowledge and application with offshore recruitment, including mobility (“in country” & domestically) through DFAT
  • Familiarity or experience working with the PLF in coordinating/supporting the PALM Scheme
  • Experience working with an AE under the auspices of The PALM Scheme
  • Knowledge of worker placements from one of the nine Pacific Island Countries covered by the PALM Scheme
  • Demonstrated ability to provide situational leadership
  • Ability to respond calmly in difficult situations whilst maintaining a strong customer service focus
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to takes other's perspective's into account
