JBS Australia’s Southern Division, headquartered in Melbourne, has the largest multi-species processing facility in Australia, processing beef, sheep, and goats. Reporting to the Brooklyn Plant General Manager, this is a hands-on role supporting the health, safety and wellbeing function at our Brooklyn site where you will be involved in coaching, advising, injury management, governance and risk management.   Your ability to proactively drive our site beyond compliance is an absolute requirement of this role.

 

You will be responsible for partnering with the site leadership team to implement JBS risk initiatives that drive best practice. As well as looking after Brooklyn, you will work as a collaborative member of the broader JBS Risk Team.  

 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Drive the implementation of the JBS Risk Strategy at the site 
  • Ensure all WHS State Regulations are complied with
  • Provide updates on trends and issues impacting on WHS
  • Facilitate risk assessments, review incidents and undertake investigations; identify learnings and opportunities for improvement
  • Interpret legislation and advise management of actions
  • Liaise with Workcover, worker’s comp insurers, rehabilitation providers and other external agencies for reporting purposes
  • Provide oversight and analyse worker’s compensation claims to ensure efficiency in costs and premium calculations
  • Manage, implement and promote organisational wellbeing initiatives, including liaising with the external providers
  • Support the review and development of a suite of contemporary and effective safety policies, procedures, systems and processes for effective and consistent implementation across the organisation.

 

About you:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety
  • Demonstrated manufacturing experience is essential
  • Demonstrated experience in management and leadership of Workplace Health, Wellbeing & Safety services within a large and complex environment
  • Meat industry or FMCG experience will be looked on favourably
  • Consultative and collaborative leadership style
  • Strong interpersonal skills, in particular the ability to negotiate and effectively influence
  • Demonstrate JBS values and behaviours and comply with JBS policies, procedure and regulations.
