About the Role

The JBS Pork Division – Farming Operations is currently recruiting a Nutritionist to join the team in Corowa, NSW in a permanent full-time capacity.  Reporting to the R&I Manager - Feed mill, you will play a crucial role in the development of nutrition programs for our Pork Division ensuring optimal profitability for our piggery and feed mill operations. You will also be responsible for conducting research on feed ingredients and feed management systems, as well as formulating cost-effective feedstuffs to enhance pig production performance.

 

Graduates are welcome to apply! A 2-year training program has been designed to assist in the development of the applicant to gain the skills of a Nutrition Society of Australia registered Nutritionist.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Perform monthly diet formulation for Rivalea and Free Trade businesses.
  • Offer technical support to Rivalea and Free Trade operations.
  • Monitor and coordinate the consumption of raw materials to meet production requirements.
  • Oversee feed ordering and delivery standards as part of feed desk management.
  • Coordinate the quality control of raw materials and finished feed at Rivalea.
  • Support monthly and yearly budgeting for feed costs and raw material usage.
  • Participate actively in weekly nutrition meetings and fulfil monthly reporting obligations.
  • Conduct on-farm nutrition experiments to evaluate the commercial value of feed ingredients and management systems.
  • Manage research diets, including transportation, scheduling, and raw materials.
  • Provide quality control advice to feed mill staff and develop feed products for external clients.
  • Participate in major research projects in pig nutrition annually.
  • Achieve progeny growth performance targets and budgets across the Rivalea group.
  • Investigate methods to increase the value of grains and protein meals.
  • Assess the cost-effectiveness of feed additives in pig production.
  • Explore innovative technologies for implementation at Rivalea.
  • Analyse alternative feeds and by-products.
  • Participate in professional development programs.
  • Perform other relevant duties as required.

 

About You

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:           

  • Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Knowledge of animal nutrition concepts.
  • A working knowledge or understanding of feed formulation systems.
  • Hands-on knowledge of pig farming and/or other livestock industries (preferred).
  • Advanced computer skills, especially in MS Excel.
  • Excellent report writing, research, and logistics skills.
  • A high level of interpersonal skills with the ability to positively influence the behaviour of others;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work variable hours as required, including call-outs and weekends.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Current driver's license.
