JBS Australia’s Northern Division operates five strategically-placed processing facilities as well as five feedlots across Queensland and New South Wales, with access to an extensive network of quality cattle.  Our network provides the ability to meet the specific demands of various market segments with an extensive range of grain-fed and pasture-fed products.

 

Caroona Feedlot is located on the rich and fertile Liverpool Plains approximately 30km from the town of Quirindi, NSW. Caroona Feedlot is currently undergoing a significant mill redevelopment that will see it boasting one of the most modern grain processing facilities in the country.  With a onetime feeding capacity of 23,500 head Caroona plays an important role in the JBS grainfed cattle supply chain.

 

About the Role:

This senior position offers the opportunity for applicants to further their career working with industry leaders, consultants and cutting edge infrastructure. This integral leadership role requires a high level of commitment with the ability to lead and motivate a dynamic team of staff. The key to your success will be your ability to communicate effectively and manage tradespeople and contractors; as well as your experience operating in a high risk facility.

The Maintenance Supervisor monitors the day-to-day maintenance activities on the plant to ensure progress of all maintenance and equipment related tasks and all necessary follow-up is progressed. This hands-on role has the responsibility to ensure the availability and reliability of the plant and equipment.

 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Lead and develop strong working relationships with a diverse range of direct reports, internal and external stakeholders, and service providers;
  • All preventative and breakdown maintenance duties on site;
  • Procurement of parts, installation of plant, and maintenance of associated infrastructure and buildings;
  • Take a proactive role in assisting the Feedlots Engineer and Feedlots Maintenance Planner with all aspects of running the engineering and maintenance operations;
  • Take a proactive role in understanding the root causes of downtime and designing and implementing engineering solutions to eliminate those causes;
  • Active promotion of training and continual improvement in on-site skills and motivate your team to be driven and accountable;
  • Monitoring and ensuring team compliance with OHS, HR, QA, Animal Welfare & Environmental obligations;
  • Be fully accountable for their work output including quality control and productivity.

 

About you:

  • Mechanical/Electrical trade qualification required
  • A sound knowledge of mechanical systems with strong electrical slant.
  • Demonstrable people management experience with proven process improvement outcomes - Qualifications in Management or Leadership is desirable.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar leadership role.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities including contractor management, budgets and work orders, and equipment and critical parts.
  • Developing and implementing practical production orientated solutions to technical problems and leading process improvement investigations.
  • Experience in use of SAP PM or other similar maintenance program.
  • Proven track record in having a professional approach to managing people, building motivated, high performing teams and a collaborative workplace.
