Swift & Company Trade Group is located in Queensland and is the international trading division of JBS. Our trading office has supplied to international markets for over 50 years trading a variety of protein products including beef, sheep, goat, pork, poultry and game meats along with by products including meat and bone meal and tallow.

 

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity exists for a Junior Trader.  The role is to provide support to the trade process by performing general administrative duties across the Trading, Shipping and Compliance Departments.  This is an entry level position that gives exposure to all functions of the International Trade process: buy, sell and execution.  This incorporates documentation/logistics, contracting, market reporting, customer development and trading.  The aim is for the candidate to progress to an International Trader role.

Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • With assistance from Shipping Co-ordinators; ensure smooth completion of orders and any issues with delivery are managed and payments are made in a timely manner
  • Assist Traders and Compliance Co-Ordinator as required (including but not limited to contracting, offering, market research & reports);
  • Market research and development: seek, identify and develop business opportunities within a designated region
  • Management of contracts from purchase and sale until delivery, ensuring contracts are completed and fx covered by end of each day
  • Work as part of the trading team, gathering and sharing market information internally and selling appropriate products at prices to maximise profits for the group
  • Following up external leads and converting to new accounts as allocated by the GM

 

About you:

  • Must be energetic, motivated and driven to achieve targets
  • Sees an opportunity & takes action, showing initiative in all parts of the role
  • Strong people skills and ability to develop relationships easily with key customers and suppliers
  • Able to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Understanding of international trade concepts including Incoterms and the shipping process
  • Responds calmly in difficult situations maintaining a strong customer service focus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
